Collioure

Nicknamed the jewel of the Côte Vermeille (The Ruby Coast), the Collioure citadel seems ready to dive into the sea. The bell tower-lighthouse of the church on the coast, the pebble-dashed streets and the pink and ochre houses with flowered balconies provide an array of colour.

Bordered by the sea and by the stepped mountain vines, Collioure was the main source of inspiration for the fauvist painter Matisse.

Chloe’s tip : «When the wind drops at the end of day, the “Cité de Peintres” (Painters’ city) reveals its splendor. The bell tower-lighthouse at the bay entrance guides you towards the luminous streets whose picturesque setting is protected by the ramparts. Cast off the anchors and take inspiration from Collioure».
